Whilst sourcing the finest guzzini and 60s inspired atomic lumens I came across a design favourite from the past, one which made me smile instantly; I knew I had to buy them!

Having not seen vintage (pre 80’s) glass bricks before their beauty struck me immediately; although covered in dust and cement, a supernatural light green hue shone from every one. It was then I had found what would become the 'Kulbrick' lamp....A light bulb moment I suppose!
Having travelled to a part of NI unfamiliar to me I was both surprised and delighted to hear the bricks I was gleefully buying where removed during the demolition of Courtaulds – an institution from the town of Carrickfergus which happens to be not more than 3 miles from my home – a coincidence or a design for life?
Courtaulds was the first of the man-made fibre industries to arrive in Northern Ireland, opening a factory for the production of Rayon in Carrickfergus in 1951. By 1965 over 1,300 people were employed. Its closure in 1981 was a devastating blow to the town.
